About the MaxLife 369 Stanley's MaxLife 369 flashlight has an innovative tripod design that offers hands-free convenience in all kinds of settings. Use it in the garage to see deep inside a car, or use it in the attic for a bit of awkward home improvement -- this light is always up to the job, and it never slips, slides, or topples.
But the MaxLife 369's weather-resistant anodized aluminum space frame construction make it ideal for more than just indoor applications; it's also great for camping, or as an emergency back-up light. Great Portable Light Source
Over the last couple of years my three Stanley Tripod LED Flashlights have endured numerous drops, downpours, and bumps without any serious casualty to note. Light weight, rugged, and packed full of features, the Stanley Tripod LED Flashlight closes in on taking the lead in portable lighting. Aluminum alloy framed, with one push of the button it morphs from hand held to a hands free tripod convenience. Its multi-position head sheds light wherever and whenever needed. More LEDs would have been great but it still comes in a winner with a 6 LED configuration. Projection covers an even beam up to 30 feet. Nicely equipped with a 4 position switch system that operates from off, low, medium, and high. Battery chamber is slickly located in tripod legs and not in body. Operates with 3, 6 or 9 AA batteries. Power indicator light flashes when energy is low. I find this system to be a reliable portable light source that has served my requirements well.

Exactly what I needed.
Perfect here with so many blackouts. Now I can do things hands free. I can also be reading when the lights go out for long periods of time.

came pre-broke! legs don't close well
The legs don't close into the central rubber piece. There is a small knob that I assume (no instructions)is meant to be pulled, to allow the legs to fold in. However, the knob just falls out and its clearly not attached to the spring-loaded piece at the joint of the legs. Have to pry your finger into the tiny space and push the piece up manually. Even still, the legs don't stay in the central piece so it never securely closes. The concept would be great if it would only work. Stanley customer service was not available. So I have to mail it back.

Not worthless - but not great
I wouldn't go so far as to call it worthless, but I don't recommend it. It is very prone to accidental activation. I had to tape a plastic cover over the on/off switch to keep it from turning itself on while rolling around in my car's trunk. The head doesn't stay in the position I set it. It uses way too many batteries for the amount of light it throws.
Instead of getting this tripod light, buy a Petzl headlamp. Here's why - I had to change a flat tire in a dark parking lot. My body was always between the wheel and the tripod light. I ended up holding a pocket flashlight between my teeth, so I could see what i was doing. If I'd had a headlamp, it would have been a breeze, instead of an ordeal.
