I BOUGHT FOUR (4) RACOR MODEL ABL-1R BICYCLE LIFTS TO INSTALL IN A GARAGE WITH 12 FOOT CEILINGS.

THERE ARE SEVERAL IMPROVEMENTS RACOR NEEDS TO MAKE IN THIS PRODUCT: THE POOR QUALITY PHILIPS HEAD SCREWS PROVIDED ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO USE, EVEN WITH PILOT HOLES DRILLED IN THE CEILING JOISTS; THE FLAT LOCKING DISCS (ALSO POOR QUALITY ALLEN SCREWS) ARE SUPPOSE TO SLIDE INTO THE ALUMINUM RAIL BUT ARE TO BIG, SO THE RAIL HAD TO BE PRIDE APART TO WIDEN; THE ROPE KEEPS COMING OFF THE PULLEYS BECAUSE THE PULLEY'S VERTICAL SIDES ARE NOT TALL ENOUGH TO RETAIN THE ROPE.

I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANY MORE OF THESE UNITS UNTIL THERE ARE SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENTS.

With the limitation of space in a one car garage, this item is just great for utilizing the ceiling to store your bike. It's easy to install, easy to operate, and reasonably priced. Works really well, and keeps the garage neat.

I was hesitant to first purchase the more expensive version instead of the $20 lower end version. Purchased 2 and after figuring the sequence of steps, the second installation was easier and quicker. Fortunately, the joists were parallel with the direction of the Racor rail and there were no issues. Planning to get 2 more for the kids' bikes. Time to get back some of our garage floor space.
