Energy efficiency
The light from this bulb is maybe comparable to a 25 watt incandescent. You can't argue with the super energy efficiency of these bulbs, if it was a bit brighter I would have given it 5 stars. I use these to light some family pictures in a dark hallway in my home and they do the job perfectly. I replaced two gas guzzling 50W halogens; these do the job using 90% less energy.

Fantastic... you call yourself "green"... not till you have this
This replaces a regular light bulb and has a light color temperature comparible to the regular incandesent light bulbs you are used to. Sure they cost a whole lot more but you will probably never buy it again... they last virtially FOREVER!!! The thing burns 5 wats and puts out about 60 watts worth of light in a pattern that fools you into thinking it is a regular bulb... till you get the electric bill that is. My goal: To have my local electric company come to audit my eletric meter for "tampering". I am innocent of that... would like to hear they accuse me of it though... so I could laugh in their face!! Get green and join me won't you?

Works Great but not 5W! Its 2.8W!
This bulb compares well with other 2 to 3watt bulbs and the slightly yellow color is better than the blue/white of most.
The advertised wattage is the only thing that is clearly fraudulent. The only way to compare brightness on LED bulbs is their wattage, since the FTC doesn't require Lumens or any other standardized measurements be made for bulbs unless they are incandescent or Compact florescent(CFL). This bulb is advertised as 5W but the box and the bulb were marked "2.81W". Not something the seller could miss unless they wanted to sell more to suckers like me. Once you buy it, the shipping costs to return it and the restocking fees mean you're probably stuck with it.
Most buyers know that LED bulbs are about 2X as efficient at producing light as CFLs. Since CFLs are 4X as efficient as incandescent it folows as a rule of thumb that you multiply the wattage of a LED bulb by 8 to compare it to incandescent. Here a 5W bulb would equal a usable 40W incandescent. Really it equals a barely useful 22W bulb. Clearly they stand to gain by making this mistake, since more people could use a 40W replacement, but few would buy a 22W bulb.
DON'T BE A SUCKER- DON'T BUY THIS BULB OR ANYTHING FROM THIS SELLER!
