Amazon.com Item Description: The Freud Difference Freud manufactures some of the most innovative, technologically advanced saw blades in the world. To ensure that the highest quality products meet the toughest design standards, Freud owns and operates six manufacturing facilities in Western Europe. Freud is one of the few manufacturers of woodworking tools in the world that produces its own MicroGrain carbide with titanium, called TiCo -- a combination of titanium and cobalt. Freud develops different types of carbide for each application to maximize the cutting life and performance of the tool; and Freud also operates one of the most modern product development research centers in Europe. By overseeing the entire manufacturing process from start to finish, Freud guarantees some of the highest quality, most advanced products in the industry.
About Freud Industrial Blades Freud’s industrial series blades were designed for the serious woodworker. Available in a variety of styles for different applications, LU blades feature thick carbide tips, precision-tensioned bodies found in every Freud quality blade. Some LU blades include a red Teflon coating that helps reduce friction, heat build-up, and gumming -- which prolongs the life of the blade.
About the 10-Inch 30-Tooth TCG Glue Line Ripping Saw Blade Freud's LM74R blade has specially designed triple chip grind (TCG) teeth to produce extremely smooth glue line rips in hard and soft woods from 1/8 to 1 inch thick. This blade's Laser-cut anti-vibration slots drastically reduce vibration and sideways movement while extending blade life, and its thick MicroGrain carbide tips allow for more cuts between sharpening. The non-stick Perma-Shield coating reduces gumming, rusting, and corrosion for longer life with less wear.
Applications This thin kerf blade produces glass smooth surfaces when crosscutting hardwoods and softwoods, thanks to Freud’s unique side grinding technology. It removes less material than standard carbide blades, thus requiring less horsepower to produce equally good results.

OK, BUT MAYBE OVER RATED
This blade does give a nice smooth cut. But run this experiment yourself. Take any sharp blade. Rip a board very slowly. You'll probably get the same result: a nice smooth cut. In fact if you rip with this blade, the blade itself will not allow the board to be moved through at a fast pace. Try it! It's a great blade but don't expect a lot more than what you have already.

Best In Class Rating
I've yet to be disappointed with any Freud circular saw blades. I use them on my Ridgid 10" table saw, 10" Delta miter saw and on my Ridgid 12" sliding miter saw.
This particular blade was for my Ridgid table saw and it gets my "best in class" award. Most cuts on 3/4" red oak are smooth enough for glue-ups without jointing (but do expect a few saw blade marks that will sometimes require further smoothing prior to glue-ups or finishing). The blades are noticeably quieter than other blades I've used.
My usage is as an amateur woodworker. To see some of my projects I invite you to visit my non-commercial website: Life After 50--One Man's Perspective. The link below will take you to my homepage where you'll find menu links to my woodworking hobby pages and photos.

could be the perfect blade for ripping
makes a smooth cut along woodgrain. the blade coating prevents burnishing and saw marks, leaving an edge that is truly ready for gluing.
i used it instead of a bandsaw to make an 1/8" veneer from red oak for edge gluing to the front of a bookcase constructed from plywood.
i do not intend to use the blade for anything but ripping, but what it does, it does very well. brilliant.

Great blade
I actually bought this blade from another site but I wanted to add my 2 cents. I got it specifically for a job that required bevelling some 4' lengths of maple. I have a Ridgid 3650 table saw. It's a good saw but does not have the power that much bigger cabinet saws have. With that said the blade performed flawlessly. The cuts were extremely smooth without a hint of burning. This blade is a great investment if you find yourself doing a lot of ripping and would like to avoid the extra step of going to the joiner after your cuts.
