Buyer Reviews
Average Buyer Rating: out of 5 stars

Customer Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - very disappointing
This one is on the trash heap today. Unless you are looking for a challenge to earn sainthood, do not buy this. It guarantees hours of winding cord and minutes of productive work.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Like new product
The unit is like new. Hard to tell it is reconditioned. Before I bought this I attempted to replace the switch in the old one. That apparently was not the problem. So I have a Ryobi string trimmer that could be reonditioned, but don't know where to send it.

Customer Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Disappointed in the basic quality
I ordered my first Reconditioned Ryobi 15 inch trimmer a couple of weeks ago. It arrived with a critical small piece not attached. The piece missing was the "sleeve" or "collar" that allows the shaft of the attachment (string trimmer, edger, etc.) to attach to the shaft of the powered unit. I tried to attach the sleeve myself and could not. I boxed it up, sent it back, and requested an exchange. The second trimmer arrived yesterday. I unpacked it, began to assemble it and the threads on a critical bolt were stipped. The bolt is the one that tightens the clamp around the tube of the attachment once it is inserted into the tube of the powered unit. I could not simply replace the bolt because it is built into a plastic "winged head" so the user can tighten and untighten it without any tools. So again, I couldn't use the trimmer because of a small, simple yet critical component. I am very disappointed since both units were not usable due to a simple quality issue that should have been addressed before leaving the factory. When simple things like this are overlooked, I question the overall quality of the reconditioned product. I will request a refund and do not recommend this product.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great product
I was very disappointed when I realized that I needed to replace our old electric ryobi trimmer as it finally broke and they stopped making them. The reconditioned one I purchased was wonderful and I was a bit nervous about purchasing something reconditioned. We have 4 attachements and everything works perfectly. I would recommend this product.

Sales of semiconductors in November indicate that consumer products such as LCD (liquid crystal display) TVs, digital music players, and other devices sold well during the holidays, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) said Monday.

November chip sales rose 2.3 percent year-on-year to $23.1 billion, the SIA said.

Unit demand has far outpaced last year. But falling chip prices have hurt industry revenue, the chip association said. For example, DRAM (dynamic RAM) bit shipments grew 25 percent in the three months through mid-December, but average selling prices have declined 20 percent over the same period.

The association also noted that rising energy prices and concerns about the sub-prime lending issue in the U.S. do not appear to have had a significant impact on consumer spending for the holidays, the SIA said. The group reiterated its forecast that worldwide semiconductor sales will reach a new record in 2007. But it will take a stronger than expected December selling season to reach the 3.8 percent growth goal the group had forecast earlier this year, the SIA said.

Investment banking firm Credit Suisse was not as optimistic as the SIA.

The November data was below normal seasonal trends, noted analyst John Pitzer, in a report on Monday. Even if December reaches its normal seasonal growth, 2007 industry revenue will only reach $255.7 billion, up 3.2 percent over last year. The growth percentage would fall short of the SIA's 3.8 percent target.

The slow November prompted Credit Suisse to lower its 2008 chip industry revenue forecast to 9.4 percent year-on-year growth, down from a previous target of 13 percent.
