Editorial Product Review:

Item Description:
Higher speeds 5,000 35,000 rpm, same as Dremel corded models. High capacity 10.8V Lithium Ion battery pack for longer run times. Battery fuel gauge lets you know when its time to recharge. Variable speed to handle a greater range of applicat

Amazon.com:
Remember how cool we all thought that first Dremel was? We're reliving the feeling with this one: lighter, faster, smarter, better, and stronger. The main improvement over the last generation is the battery source: lithium-ion. There are so many reasons to applaud. Lithium holds its charge up to six times longer in storage than nickel-cadmium batteries, so it's ready when you are. Remember the disappointment when you were ready and your battery was low? That won't happen with this one. It's got a battery fuel gauge that tells you how much life is left before a recharge, so you won't be caught without your Dremel, and if you choose to keep it on its charger, you won't cause memory and shorten the charge capacity. It's small, it's light, it's comfortable and maneuverable; it's everything the corded models are, but without the cord. We love it.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Buyer Reviews
Average Buyer Rating: out of 5 stars

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very Pleased
I have used this product and it has the power and the long lasting battery life needed to do and complete the projects started. I would recommend this tool because it is useful, cordless and has many uses around the house or at work.

Customer Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Batteries are a problem
The tool works OK but I've had two batteries go bad in the six months I've had the tool. They are expensive! Rather than continuing to shell out for batteries, I may just stick with my corded one.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Pretty Awesome.
I always heard about how useful a Dremel tool is, be it in my hobby RC car days, or my (current) auto-enthusiat days. So, I finally got my first dremel and it's awesome. It's easy to hold and adjust the speed on the fly. It's perfect for so many tasks. I've been looking around my house/car for things I can cut, drill, or sand just so I have more reason to use it. Not only is it fun, it's useful. I recommend you have one. You'll be surprised how many little jobs you will use this for that you would otherwise improvise with whatever tools you have for a makeshift job.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - excellent product and customer service

Excellent purchase. I use it for dog nails, battery lasts a long time, dogs love it, quiet and easy to hold. I highly recommend this product.

Sales of semiconductors in November indicate that consumer products such as LCD (liquid crystal display) TVs, digital music players, and other devices sold well during the holidays, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) said Monday.

November chip sales rose 2.3 percent year-on-year to $23.1 billion, the SIA said.

Unit demand has far outpaced last year. But falling chip prices have hurt industry revenue, the chip association said. For example, DRAM (dynamic RAM) bit shipments grew 25 percent in the three months through mid-December, but average selling prices have declined 20 percent over the same period.

The association also noted that rising energy prices and concerns about the sub-prime lending issue in the U.S. do not appear to have had a significant impact on consumer spending for the holidays, the SIA said. The group reiterated its forecast that worldwide semiconductor sales will reach a new record in 2007. But it will take a stronger than expected December selling season to reach the 3.8 percent growth goal the group had forecast earlier this year, the SIA said.

Investment banking firm Credit Suisse was not as optimistic as the SIA.

The November data was below normal seasonal trends, noted analyst John Pitzer, in a report on Monday. Even if December reaches its normal seasonal growth, 2007 industry revenue will only reach $255.7 billion, up 3.2 percent over last year. The growth percentage would fall short of the SIA's 3.8 percent target.

The slow November prompted Credit Suisse to lower its 2008 chip industry revenue forecast to 9.4 percent year-on-year growth, down from a previous target of 13 percent.
