Works as advertised!
I have a old style hot-cold variable pressure bath/shower setup and this showerhead works perfectly.
The amplifying effect works realy well even at lower pressure.
With the lever in the up (1.85 gpm) position with the water turned on half-way the amplifying effect feels like a good hard rain with about a 15-20 degree spray pattern (a great basic shower with a gentle scalp massage).
With the water turned up full, lever in the up (1.85 gpm) position it feels like a very hard rain with about a 25 degree spray pattern (a wind-blown-rain spray and a pretty intense scalp massage).
With water on full and lever in the down 2.5 gpm position it's like torrential downpour with about a 25 degree spray pattern (a large water droplet skull and full body massage).

One of the best shower heads I've experienced
This shower head is definitely worth the money. You can see the difference between the high and low setting but you don't really feel it that much, so leaving it on the low water saving setting does a great job still.

The Rime of the Ancient Shower Head (Abridged)
Day after day, day after day,
We bathed without emotion
As boring as a dripping tap
Just draining to the ocean
Not hot nor cold, could be controlled
Our shower was the worst
It either kept the water in
Or loosed it in a burst
"Twas time, it was, to make a change
"cos this old one is cursed
[The purchase is made, the Delta Amplifying Shower Head is installed]
We put thread tape around the threads
And tightened easily
And from the first the torrent burst
And filled us all with glee
Water, water, everywhere
Much easier than you'd think
Water, water everywhere
Drops big enough to drink
Ah! Well-a-day! What happy looks
Had I from old and young
Our ancient cross, our Albatross
Into the trash was flung
Farewell, farewell, but this I tell
To thee my dear house guest
If you should stay with me today
Our shower is the best.
Pros:
1. Aesthetically pleasing
2. Lifetime Warranty
3. Easy to install - only thread tape needed (not included)
4. Uses less water without sacrificing pressure
5. Has two settings - the water-saving 1.85 gpm and the high volume 2.5 gpm
6. Water pressure feels more powerful
7. Spray holes don't need cleaning
8. Affordable, and great value for money
Cons:
1. People don't want to come out of the shower - ever! (Can cause chronic lateness)
2. Now I have to go buy these for every shower in the house

A fine alternative to the "rain shower" low flow heads
I purchased two different <2 gpm showerheads in the last month in a quest to save a little money by cutting down my family's hot water usage. Speaking just to this one, the Delta, the first thing I did was cut the top off a 1-gallon water jug and used a stop watch to confirm the flow. It took about 35 seconds to fill up the jug on the low flow setting which works out to about 1.7gpm - real close to the published rating. On high flow, it took around 21 seconds, which calculates to 2.85gpm.
IMHO the low flow setting is sufficient for me, including rinsing the shampoo out of my hair. I have replaced a 4.0 and 3.0 gpm showerhead in my home now and I would say the quality of shower experience is about the same with the latest generation of "amplifying" showerheads as I felt I got from the old high flow heads. My only complaint is that the cheap showerheads never include teflon tape, you have to use your own (if you have it) or buy a roll for a couple bucks at the hardware store to ensure a leak-free connection.
