I bought two of these heaters and they keep my house toasty, my gas heat does not even kick on, I just love them, I bought them from Home Depot for $79.99, and I should have looked on Amazon first this is the cheapest I have seen them, I never had a smell when I turned them on, they are quiet and give off alot of heat, I have 6 birds and bought them to keep them warm at night but found out that they will save me money on my heating bill this winter, it was the best buy I ever made. I recommend these to everyone of my friends, best space heater I have found so far.

Customer Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great heater but gets rather hot in the back
I love micathermic heaters as they heat up the room effectively and they are virtually silent. This Delonghi micathermic panel heater is no exception - it delivers non-drying heat effectively and silently and I love it!

My only question is, it gets rather hot in the back panel when in use. Isn't this supposed to be wall-mountable? How could the back panel be so hot then? It is so hot that it is not comfortable to touch it. I read the other reviewers saying that the back panel stayed quite cool. So, I wonder if I have a defective product?

It would have gotten 5 stars if not for the hot back panel.

Addendum 10-30-08:

The back panel got so hot today, even at a low setting (750W, with thermostat set at 2) that I almost burned my hand!!! This has to be defective. I am setting up for a replacement. Hopefully, it will not be the same with the replacement.

Update 11-11-08:

The replacement arrived today. The back was definitely not as hot as the last one. It's just warm to touch when it's on 750W but a bit hot when at 1500W. The last one was defective. I wished that the Delonghi Customer Service people would not have said that it was "normal" when the back would get so hot that it almost burnt my fingers just by touching it!!! That was rather irresponsible and decidedly not safe. If I could rate the heater again now, I would downgrade it to 3 stars and only 1 star for the Delonghi Customer Service.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fantastic heater!
I bought this DeLonghi heater after I had to throw the Soleus panel heater in the garbage after finding it did NOTHING to heat a room. We bought the DeLonghi HHP1500 Mica Panel Radiator heater for a basement bedroom and it works GREAT. This is my son's bedroom and I didn't want a floor heater because he's not to be trusted to NOT throw clothing, paper, blankets or whatever on top of it. This heater was easily hung on the wall....which is PERFECT for a kid's room. We've used it for 2 winters now and it is more than sufficient for his bedroom. It gets nice and toasty in there.

I highly recommend this heater and suggest, from experience, you stay away from the similar Soleus panel heater :).

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Nice Surprise
With most electric heaters this size I've alway seen the elements glowing
orange and becoming VERY hot whenever it's turned on. But with this heater you don't see the orange glow, but you can feel the heat real well. I can even feel the heat when I'm more than 6 feet from the it! It's very quiet and doesn't even make any noise when it's heating up. Although it costs more than many electric space heaters, it's well worth the price!
