Buyer Reviews
Average Buyer Rating: out of 5 stars

Customer Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - adequate
The CardScan works as advertised however the interface with OUTLOOK could be more seamless. The device is capable of scanning unusually formatted cards and still get 90% of the information correct.
The need to use the interface to synchronize i.e. export to OUTLOOK is somewhat cumbersome though the software allows batch processing.

Customer Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Good Enough
I have found this product to be very easy to use and the results are sufficent for the cost of the item. The first one I purchased did not work. I called the tech support number and got through right away. I described the problem and they said to return it to where I had bought it. The return process with Amazon was extremely easy and they sent me a replacement before I could even get the faulty one back to them. The replacement worked great and I have scanned in a lot of cards that were just floating around my desk. All the cards I had been "planning" on entering by hand into Outlook. All done in less than an hour. I like this device.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Card -- just what they promised
I had my doubts about character recognition software but the scanner did exceptionally well.

I had a big backlog of cards from the U.S. and 4 different countries to add into my outlook contacts files so I took a chance on the V8 card scanner.

It not only read and accurately entered information from a wide variety of type faces, it even got most of the address information for countries as diverse as Brazil, Korea, and China. I have to do very little correcting.

I am very pleased with this scanner, I wonder if they have a page scanner with the same OCR software?

They also delivered it faster than expected.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great scanner for the price
The CardScan V8 is a quick and reliable scanner for a reasonable price. I had 500 + business cards that needed to be uploaded into Outlook. This scanner made an easy job of it. I uploaded the entire stack and then approved them in batches throughout the week.

Easy interface with Outlook which identifies and resolves duplicates(!).

I liked the ability to scan the reverse of the card, particularly important with international business clients that may print the reverse of the card with local information in their working language.

I would highly recommend the CardScan V8.

Sales of semiconductors in November indicate that consumer products such as LCD (liquid crystal display) TVs, digital music players, and other devices sold well during the holidays, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) said Monday.

November chip sales rose 2.3 percent year-on-year to $23.1 billion, the SIA said.

Unit demand has far outpaced last year. But falling chip prices have hurt industry revenue, the chip association said. For example, DRAM (dynamic RAM) bit shipments grew 25 percent in the three months through mid-December, but average selling prices have declined 20 percent over the same period.

The association also noted that rising energy prices and concerns about the sub-prime lending issue in the U.S. do not appear to have had a significant impact on consumer spending for the holidays, the SIA said. The group reiterated its forecast that worldwide semiconductor sales will reach a new record in 2007. But it will take a stronger than expected December selling season to reach the 3.8 percent growth goal the group had forecast earlier this year, the SIA said.

Investment banking firm Credit Suisse was not as optimistic as the SIA.

The November data was below normal seasonal trends, noted analyst John Pitzer, in a report on Monday. Even if December reaches its normal seasonal growth, 2007 industry revenue will only reach $255.7 billion, up 3.2 percent over last year. The growth percentage would fall short of the SIA's 3.8 percent target.

The slow November prompted Credit Suisse to lower its 2008 chip industry revenue forecast to 9.4 percent year-on-year growth, down from a previous target of 13 percent.
