Great cheap laser printer
I bought this printer in October 2008 and have been using it for a month now. I am very pleased with it and I am happier each day. It is easy to use and is as fast as advertised (maybe even faster). After installation I moved it to a corner near a power plug (because the wireless mode needs no other connection) and it faithfully and quickly prints slews of reports.
The setup directions are very clear but you have to follow the directions in the manual precisely. I did have to download new print drivers for Windows Vista and Mac OS 10.5 but other than that I didn't have any issues.
Yesterday I decided to try to print on envelopes. I read the User's Manual on the CD, followed the directions and it printed the first time. (By the way, the print on an envelope will face left so put the envelope flap on the right when you put it in the printer. That part wasn't clear in the manual.)
I think it is a tremendous bargain at the current price. I highly recommend it.
(I am a computer professional with over 25 years experience with PCs).

great printer except for wireless setup
this is my first laser printer and it's much faster and crisper than my inkjet printer. have had only one paper jam in the past 1.5 months i've had it. easy to setup if using direct ethernet cable. to set up wireless, however, it took me several attempts and several hours to get it working (and i'm no computer newbie!) for the number of pages it prints, the more expensive toner is worth it (and ends up being much cheaper per page but i can't provide accurate numbers on that).

Working flawlessly so far
I have been very happy with Brother printers for the past several years. I use them networked at work on an Apple Airport and this one is for my home use. I am very pleased with the quality and speed of printing by this device, though I did not have much luck setting it up through the wireless network protocol (I think it's because my first generation Airport is not truly compatible with it). I have since networked it through my old(er) iMac and my Airport card so that I can still print remotely. These printers, in my experience, hold up very well and seem to be a good value from both the hardware and toner use/replacement aspects. I have no plans to change to a different company's products.

Not for Mac
Terrible for the IMac. After hours of effort, I could never get it started. The installation showed complete. The printer displayed on the computer. But it always gave a "printer inactive" error message when it was time to print. It comes with no cables, so I tried every possible combination of cables off the shelf. I've never had this kind of problem getting a peripheral to work on my Macs.
