Amazon.com:Black & Decker’s VersaPak tools are great for the homeowner, and to keep them running, you’ll want some spare batteries. Some advantages to these include their freedom from 'memory,' which keeps you from getting a full recharge and the fact that you’ll get at least 300 full recharges on each battery. They’ll power all the 3.6-volt VersaPak tools, including the ScumBuster and screwdrivers. Of course, once you buy a VersaPak tool, you don’t have a choice of batteries, but we’ve found these to be reliable and well able to power the 3.6-volt VersaPak line.

Portable Energy
B&D tools using the VersaPak batteries are convenient and versatile. While certainly not the best tools available, they are relatively low in cost, perform adequately, and the replacement batteries are widely available.

Versa Pack
I guess it would have worked, but the whole Dust Buster would not charge so the Versa Pack was usless. Would like to retuern if possible.

Ni Cad RECHARGEABLE Battery
I have a Black & Decker Power Screwdriver which I have used for years--since 1999, for electronics. Of Course, the batteries have not lasted that long, and I have replaced them a time or two.
I have let them run down to where they lost some power, then recharged them fully. Do NOT let them run down completely, or they may be damaged by the high current demand of the appliance when run at low voltage. They can overheat at low voltage and high current drain, and lose some of their lifespan. The appliance can also overheat with low voltage and high current drain. If the battery is uncomfortably warm to the hand, it is being overworked, either low voltage or too high duty cycle.
If you do not use them regularly, they will lose some of their charge by infinitesimal internal leakage--that is just the way batteries work. When you familiarize yourself with your machine, you will recognize when the battery loses power, as the machine will have less power than usual. Check the batteries in a regular maintenance schedule, then you will know when it is time to recharge.
If you do use them regularly, keep one fully charged, then when the other runs down, install the fully charged battery, and recharge the other.
